My practice primarily focuses on contemporary portraiture or figurative mixed media pieces. I am finding lately my practice instead thinks about the feeling my work could evoke in the audience through using images. I constantly consider the best media to present emerging ideas, and the greatest way to link each piece together, looking for the similarities to convey my hope to provoke a reaction; the feeling of the uncanny. Often, the art is displayed in a traditional sense, allowing the audience to engage and contemplate each piece hung upon the wall or presented in the crisp, open gallery space. Across each piece influence is drawn by the daily aspects of life, be it the influential people I surround myself with (hence some pieces having such a strong female slant); or even just the day to day.

I love challenging the stereotypes of art and questioning how boundaries can be pushed through research and practise- the play with mixing media and opposing textures drives the work being created, enforcing that openness to explore outside such expected boundaries.
